Gift Store? Yay or Nay?

Hi Everyone,

I woke up this morning to see we have a gift store from the ning network. Along with the new quick comment it seems we are becoming more and more like so many of the other social networks with added gagets and virtual toys to keep us amused.

Well it is up to you to decide whether or not we keep it.

Some of the gift items are a little bit cheezey, but they are kind of cute and I do have the ability to add other ones and maybe in the new year if I have time I will create some.

Or perhaps we can have a challenge to create new gift icons?

Each member has a pile of credits to send gifts to each other and the idea is when the credits run out, you may purchase additional credits to send gifts.

It is totally up to you as an individual if you choose to play until your credits run out, or if you decide to purchase more that is your choice.

My understanding is that this forum will receive an incentive if credits are purchased by members.

Monetary incentive is of course helpful to keep the site running, but I am proceeding with caution.

So use it or loose it, as the saying goes.

I will monitor the stats over the next few months as well I would love your input on this feature.

I enjoy facebook because I can keep in touch with friends and relatives who live elsewhere. When the "send a gift" first started on facebook....it was rather cute....but after a few days it was a chore and not too fun anymore. So, I ignore gifts given to me on facebook and I dont send them either. So,personally I wouldn't use them here either. There is always so much to look at. When I have spare time I'd rather be making/looking/tasting art rather than giving/getting a virtual gift for a virtual garden/farm/page/etc. And, I'm a Fundraiser by profession so I'd rather you just suggest an amount for me to donate to help run the site. Wow.....getting a little preachy so I'll stop now!

mmm.... don't quite see the reasoning. A personal comment, or a comment on photos is much better in my humble opinion.

I have nothing against it per se, just don't see why. BTW has anybody had problems with pages loading. This site seems to be quite slow compared to others I visit?
