Paper Digital Art and Imagesbykim

Digital images for altered arts, mixed media, collage and crafts

Hi Everyone,

I really like posting 2 challenges and running them both for 2 weeks instead of rushing one challenge into one week. We seem to have more entries and more interest.
So again, we are having 2 challenges and they will run until September 17th cut off.

There will be a pocket packet for each theme, as well any members that particpate in both will receive a parti Icon to add to their profile page.

Both themes will run from now til Sept 17th when I should be posting a new theme and announcing winners.

This theme is Asian quotes
Quote from a fortune cookie? Or a favorite quote from the Chinese Philosopher Confusious

Please design your art with a little Asian flare and design to go with your quote.

Happy Creating!

This is my effort - cheated a bit because I used an image that I had from years ago, and did alot more work on it. You don't realize how much you learn over the years. I think it works quite well.

Hope you like it

Here is my entry for the asian chalenge, I googled quotes by Confuscious and found a few that I liked so may be more to come. This is a postcard, I don't know why but when i work on larger sizes ( than atc) I seem to make the collages a lot busier, LOL. (there is a larger image on my Flickr photostream)

This is an ATC-why is my picture humongo? And someone should recognize the gears, they came from our previous charm swap. The charm came unglued in the mail and I had it lying there for repair and thought, hmmm, why not?

I will try but I am sure that Kim will explain more fully. The file image is approx 650 pixels by 850 pixels. The screen display ( at least mine ) is 72 pixels per inch. So dividing 650 by 72, you get approx 8 inches which is exactly the size of the image on my screen.

I presume that you photographed the atc. I always reduce the size of my images for forums, etc to 350 X 250 pixels, landscape or portrait decides which is the larger side.

Okay Cathy,

Sorry, but I hadnt noticed that your original image was very large 802 x 1070 and scaled down to fit.

For posting images to PDA, ideally you should stay under 600 pixels per side.
So what you need to do is resize your image in photo impact. There should be a resize option in your program where ever you found your resolution.

Change the 1070 side (larger side) of the image to 600 pxls and then tab over, it should change to a smaller number based on scale.

Dont force 600 pxls on both sides or your image may appear warped.

Once you have changed the size, dont SAVE instead SAVE AS a new file and give it a new name like Asian thumb or Asian small so you know that it is a smaller version of your original..

Never Ever reduce the quality of your original image and just save it or you will lose the original large. Always use SAVE AS (look under file where you have many options for saving).

The try again. (it's a learning process :))

This is lovely. So whimsical. Very creative use of peel-offs too.

Ohhh, thanks Heather. I'd like to rework the way the words look, but haven't figured out yet how. Probably put them on some background paper and paste over the words I have now.
