Workshop Distressed Paper Finished projects and open discussion November 23, 2008

Hi Everyone

This is the discussion forum for posting and discussing your finished distressed paper.
Here are the 3 parts of the tutorial

Part 1

Part 2
Part 3

Here are my finished samples:

Coffee filters and tea bags

Shipping tags

Before and After

Paper Doilies and Candy cups

Stained fabric with coffee and pink dye

Here are the makings of a simple altered book page

Envelopes notice the cd envelope, this will be great for a round CD card

Still have to cover that ugly text both front and back

Paper Bags stained and coffee stamped

Coffee stained and Olive oil stamped

Darker coffee mixture

Teabag staining, inked edges and coffee stamped

Blotter paper that looks like great distressed paper! Total Accident! LOL

Here is the paper that was on the blotter paper

Stained and scented with vanilla and cinnamon

Pink and Brown text pages
The round ring impression comes from resting an object (bowl) while wet.

Assorted techniques

Bleached cardstock with and without paint wash

My favorite, stained paper towels

In case you missed it, here is the complete 3 part tutorial on how
I created these papers here:

DISTRESSED PAPER
Part 1

Part 2
Part 3

Now over the next couple of weeks I will concentrate on creating some finished art using this distressed paper.
Combined with the art challenge theme and the collage sheet of images this will be a fun art project.
I will post my completed projects in the challenge theme forum.

I look forward to seeing your distress papers here too!!

This workshop will remain open for you to add finished pieces at anytime.

John those are fantastic, I love the ones with the salt.

Once you start adding other mediums like more ink staining and paints you will love them all.

The paper, just dampen along the edge where the white is and you will find it will disappear.

Fabulous!
I hope your wife didn't roll her eyes at you too much making a big mess! LOL

I did mine, and they turned out well. I aggree, the coffee crystals are better than just old regular coffee. My kids thought I was nuts! Off to go play with the colage sheets.

Oh- can I use something else rusty for the challenge- versus the staed items. I have a great tin that I rusted up.

Haven't quite got around to the rusty nails yet. But I have used my papers for a couple more atc's

I have also used some of the downloads which I have received from Kim. I must admit I like them. - John

Wow, John, that's a pile of variety you ended up with! The last three are my favourite. Years ago for a University project I added salt to something with great results. I will try it again...thanks for the reminder.
I'd like to see your next batch as well.

John, my previous comment was in regards to your distressed sheets.
This is in regards to your finished art cards:
Love the figures, and 'your' ladies, Kim's digital images and the background all sit together very nicely.

My question on the challenge is, does your title have to be on the finished project or just have the title In my world.....?
Donna

No the title doesn't have to be incorporated into the art, just part of your title for description and understanding.
