Has anyone ever sold their Collage work.
I am having my first exhibit later this month.
One of the pieces (for an example) is my "Becoming Mother Nature" Poem-ollage.
It is 9"X9" and took me at least 8 hours total for the collage
plus I worked on the poem over a long period of time, too.
Does anyone have a clue what an acceptable price would be?
I guess because I have never persued being published
and therefore an unknown, my work, as it is now is probably
not as valuable as someone more well-known.
One thing I like about being an artist is that I don't have to be locked into any one elses' ideas about what "Art Shoule Be"......We can make up our own art and our own rules ! If I want to change the dimension a fraction of an inch for my own esthetic, I'll do that. I feel free to sell, trade or even give away my work. Kim, one of the things I love about PDA is that, aside from your wonderful tutorial on proper presentation and construction suggestions, you just let us all run wild with our creativity and just look what we all have done!!!!! Most artists have an independent spirit that others can't dictate to....Not only do we think outside the box, we were never in it in the first place LOL. I'm going to have a table at the local antique shop for a month or three, I'll offer a price range of 1.50 for a copy of one of my collage tag with glitter and a nice ribbon, to some ATC cards for 10.00, to collages and collage boxes for 10.00-40.00. Also puzzle jewelry for 8.00- 25.00. and I sell earrings for 7.00. That seems to be a fair price range for me in a depressed small town (5,000), whose Aluminum Plant just shut down. I'ts hard to balance need to be paid for time and materials and creativity when people are trying to figure out how to buy their kids shoes !!!! My sales focus is on one- of -a- kind gifts , people will spend more for a gift, then they might buy themselves a pair of earrings.
