I've seen the "carve your own" video, and bought a block but haven't tried it yet. But I got a book from the library that has some other, easier ideas ..... it's a Reader's Digest book, "The Complete Guide to Stamping" by Gear & Freestone. It had several good ideas: use the "outliner paint" they use in glass painting/stained glass painting to draw your own stamp, then mount it on a rubber sheet or other flexible surface to allow for give to make your own stamp. This one is shallow and would be best with an ink pad. I wonder if the "puffy" fabric paint would also work for this?
They also used a thin rubber sheet and a hobby punch to cut out images from the sheet, butterflies, etc., then mount the rubber sheet to the top of a water bottle cap to make a stamp.
Using a self-adhesive thin rubber sheet, they cut strips with decorative scissors, then peeled off the adhesive and pressed it onto those clear plastic stamp blocks to make borders and such.
They also showed you how to make your own paint pad (stamp). They took what they called a kitchen sponge, which looked like something a little thicker than a handi wipe to me. They put the ink or paint on the sponge and used it as usual. They after use, they specially wrapped it in tin foil to save for later use. Good way to get special colors or to ue craft paints on a foam stamp.
The book also showed traditional stamps, how to use them, how to clean them, and projects to do. Good for beginners and probably might have hints for the other stamp users too.
